This Easter I went head to head with my one of the most brutal foes I have faced so far: a cherry cheesecake covered in heavy whipping cream. Man versus cake in a fight to the finish.
While my last foe was impressive in terms of sheer power and bulk, it was also unsophisticated and predictable. I conquered it easily. This one had a trick up its sleeves. The heavy whipping cream was unexpected and deadly. I felt this was going to be a challenge; especially considering that I was weakened from the mounds of eggs, salmon, roasted lamb and assorted meats I had consumed minutes before. It was a devious cake they had prepared for me. One that might very well have proved to be my undoing.
At first it seemed cherry cheesecake was gaining the upper hand by dark powers of intimidation. Could I break through the thick outer shell of heavy whipping cream - and not to mention could I finish all of it? The task seemed impossible. Doubt was beginning to set in.
But once I broke through the whipping cream I found it's weak point - the moist soft core. After that I made quick work of it. Victory was mine.

considering your job is to be in shape, and that you take nutrition really serious all year round, this seems like a really irrational thing do to.. if you seriously like cheesecake, why not eat smaller portions of it during a much longer period, after meals, or some other way of indulging in moderation

For the sake of transparency, I'll say that I ate about 95% of it. I gave my sister and her friend a tiny slice and that's it. And I could easily have gone for a second cake later that evening.

ReplyDeleteOnce a week. How much, well, that depends. Enough to get a good buzz going but not enough to get plastered. Last time was about half a bottle of red wine (40 cl), 5-6 shots (6 cl each) and a few breezers (27 cl each).

Christmas, my birthday (feb), Easter, Mum's birthday (late april), once or twice during the summer when I see the family, my name day (nov) + maybe once or twice on top of that. So about once every six-seven weeks or so.

Am I correct in assuming that you still have 3 re-feed days per week on top of the holiday cheesecake? How much (percentage) do your calories go up on the re-feed days? Is it still mainly ice cream?

ReplyDeleteI have a slight refeed on training days, which atm is about 3x/8 days or 4x/10 days depending my training cycle. Once in a while it's ice cream or cereal, but lately I'm sticking more and more to whole foods due to personal preference. I don't have as much as a sweet tooth anymore (back in the days I would always have cereal or ice cream pwo).

Results are promising so far. I plan on including her in the next client update that should be up in a few weeks. End of April or early May. It's going to be a magnificent update.
* Just kidding. I'm not such a cruel taskmaster. My clients cheat from time to time and it doesn't hurt their progress much.
